Vegan Guide - Restaurants, Coffee & Cake
published on January 15, 2026
Are there enough vegan options in Salzburg?
The short answer is yes. The longer and more honest one is that, like most things in the city, you need to know where to look. That is exactly why we asked Plants of Salzburg to give us a few tips for Veganuary and beyond. If anyone knows how to navigate plant based eating in this city without ending up with the same three dishes on repeat, it is them.
Here is a summary of their tips and a few of our own favourites: No preaching, no pressure, just good food and solid tips for anyone curious about vegan food and events in Salzburg, whether it is for Veganuary or way beyond.
The truth is that Salzburg does not have a huge number of strictly vegan restaurants. But the ones that exist are great!
Vegitalian
Vegitalian is a good example, especially during Veganuary. Sam is switching up the menu every single week, which means you could technically go again and again withing eating the same dish twice.
Café Veronika
Café Veronika is another staple, and if we are being honest, it hands down one of the best vegan cheesecakes in the city.
Gusta-V
Gusta-V is the OG vegan spot in Salzburg and still one of my favourites.
Green Garden
On top of that, Green Garden and The Green Kitchen by the keep are also solid choices for a vegan menu.
KOLMA pop-up
Another favourite of ours are the KOLMA pop-ups. The best way to know when the next one will happen is to follow @kolmalangkawi on Instagram.
Additional vegan options for dining.
Beyond that, a lot of Salzburg's best vegan eating actually happens in restaurants that are not exclusevly vegan but do it very well.
Yuen offers a surprisingly boad range of vegan chinese dishes. Fat Monk works with planted meat alternatives for their bowls. Yazzoon and Furo both deliver mediterranean flavours that translate very well into vegan options. Lakhi's is always a safe bet for vegan indian food, and Frida Bistro has several delicious vegan dishes.
And just because we are talking vegan does not mean pizza is off the table. Cosmic pizza and Lievitamente both have great vegan pizza options worth a visit.
And of course, let's not forget the viral and a little controversial vegan Leberkäse from LEKA. If you have not seen it in your timeline yet, you are definitely not in Salzburg.
Vegan Coffee & plant based cake.
If you lean more towards coffee and cake, Salzburg does not disappoint either. Karaffu, Ratio Coffee, Kaffeeothek, and Laden & Café all offer vegan cakes and plant based drinks that are actually worth the stop, not just acceptable substitutes.
