I have seen Orontes floating around my feed for a while, and I will be very honest. I did not go for a long time because I am not a huge fan of very sweet breakfasts. Today I am here to make sure you do not make the same misinformed mistake.
Breakfast at Orontes is genuinely special. The breakfast platter balances sweet and savoury dishes with influences stretching from Turkey through Afghanistan and the Middle East. It feels like a small journey on a table. The dips are made fresh and change with the seasons, and every dish is full of flavour. Shakshuka, chilli baguette, tahini with dates. Everything tastes thoughtful and deeply comforting.
And as good as the food is, the atmosphere here is truly special. Ayse goes out of her way to make every guest feel welcome. In the hour I was there, locals came and went, some for breakfast, some just for a chai and a chat. You can feel that this place is built on a bigger idea. A space where cultures meet, products from different countries come together, and people feel at ease. You can eat, linger, talk, or browse Oriental products. Everybody is welcome.
Celebrating different cultures and supporting each other is my personal quiet form of resistance these days. Orontes does exactly that. Go. You will not regret it.
